Shichang Kang, Ph.D, Professor at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Director of the State Key Laboratory of Cryosphere Science, Northwest Institute of Eco-Environment and Resources, CAS. Dr. Kang mainly focuses on cryospheric changes, environmental chemistry of snow/ice and atmosphere, paleoclimate and environmental variability recovered by ice core records in the Tibetan Plateau. He has published more than 700 peer-reviewed papers and books with a citation of more than 30,000 (in Google Scholar and H=85). Dr. Kang has been awarded a State Winner of Central Government Special Allowances and National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation. He was a council member of the International Glaciology Society and a member of the Scientific Steering Group of Climate and Cryosphere (CliC). He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Glaciology and Geocryology. He has been a PI or co-PI for more than 40 projects and organized more than 40 field expeditions in the extremely high elevations of the Tibetan Plateau, such as Mt. Everest and the Antarctic and Arctic.
