At Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM), Myles has integrated software development and science. He wrote the first version of Kardiokompassi, the first heart-disease risk calculator incorporating genetic risk scores. He redesigned and recoded the Finnish Disease Database, FinDis.org, and helped create VarioML and Observ-OM, two data specifications used for describing variation data. He helped design and build the software for the Digital Health Revolution project. In the GEN2PHEN project, he designed a ‘GitHub for Science’. He is currently starting to pilot a prototype peer-to-peer scholarly communications platform, which includes a response to FIMM founding director Olli Kallioniemi’s challenge to create a Tinder for Science.
