Manisha Bista is a One Health Specialist specializing in disease surveillance in human, animal and environment interface. She obtained her Master’s in Public Health from Massey University in New Zealand specializing in One Health and Biosecurity. She got her undergraduate degree in Biotechnology from Kathmandu University in Nepal. She has over 12 years of experience working in the international health and surveillance system strengthening programs in Nepal and countries in the South Asian region. Currently, Manisha is working for the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), UKAIDs global program to strengthen the AMR/AMU/AMC surveillance system across humans, animals, environment and food sectors in Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, and Nepal. She works with local, national and international stakeholders in setting up a One Health governance system and effective AMR coordination mechanism across human, animal, environmental and food sectors and further provides technical assistance in developing, implementing, monitoring and reporting surveillance plans.
Manisha has extensive experience conducting research in wildlife genetics, viruses with pandemic potential and Zoonotic diseases that have had a significant impact in informing the impact of human, animal and environment interaction further influencing the adaptation of one health approach in disease surveillance systems.
