Lekhendra Tripathee is the Co-founder and President of the Himalayan Environment Research Institute (HERI), Kathmandu, Nepal. He earned his PhD degree in Physical Geography from the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, CAS (ITPCAS). His research focuses on atmospheric aerosol and precipitation chemistry over the Himalayas and surrounding regions. His keen focus is to observe mercury (Hg), trace elements, and organic and inorganic composition in air, water, and soil and relate those pollutants in the environment with the health of the ecosystems, understanding the fate, sources and transport and deposition mechanisms. He has led several projects and published over 100 scientific articles.
