Jyoti U. Devkota is a Professor of Statistics in the Department of Mathematics, at Kathmandu University, Nepal. She completed her Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics, University of Osnabrueck, Germany, with a DAAD fellowship. She has done Bachelor’s (Honors) and Master’s in Mathematical Statistics from Lady Shriram College, Delhi University, India. Her research is focused on the development and application of statistical methodologies to problems from Health, Energy and Environment. She has a teaching experience of more than 25 years at Kathmandu University. She has over 30 first-authored publications in high-impact international peer-reviewed journals. She has also served as the Head of the Department of Natural Sciences, at Kathmandu University from October 2013 to April 2017. In addition to presenting papers at several national and international conferences, Dr. Devkota has also written three books on Statistics and Data Analysis. She has been an Ambassador of the International Mathematics Union (IMU) – Committee of Women in Mathematics (CWM) for Nepal since 2016.
